A board perspective shaped by doing

My career has been spent at the sharp end of fintech and payments - launching new products, building international operations, navigating complex regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions. I've sat on both sides of the boardroom table and understand how strategic decisions translate into operational reality.

I currently serve on two boards: MABS (Money Advice and Budgeting Service), where I chair the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee, and The B!G Idea (social enterprise), where I chair the Governance, Policy & Risk Committee.

My particular interest is in how boards engage with technology risk and AI governance - an area where most organisations are still finding their footing. I was part of the inaugural Central Bank of Ireland Innovation Sandbox cohort, which reflects a close working engagement with Irish financial regulation.

Fintech & Payments

Deep operational knowledge across card issuing, acquiring, international payments, prepaid and alternative payment methods. VISA and Mastercard principal member experience.

Regulatory & Compliance

Extensive operational experience across Central Bank of Ireland and FCA regulated environments, and GDPR, DSA, AMLD and PCI-DSS frameworks across multiple European and international jurisdictions.

Strategic Growth

Track record of scaling businesses - quadrupling transaction volumes at a VISA and Mastercard Principal Member, launching Ireland's first gift card, and entering new markets across Asia and the Middle East.

AI & Technology Governance

Formal training in AI ethics (Trinity College Dublin) and AI governance (Law Society). A practical perspective on how boards should oversee AI risk and technology strategy.

Audit & Risk Oversight

Currently chairing the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee at MABS and the Governance, Policy & Risk Committee at The B!G Idea. IoD-trained in audit and risk committee responsibilities and financial governance.

International Operations

Built and led teams across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Experience navigating cross-cultural business environments and complex multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements.
